The important events to put in your diary ahead of the return of the Premier League on 6 August
Ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season starting on 6 August, we take a look at the key summer dates that fans need to be aware of.
June
The Premier League AGM officially oversees the transition from the 2021/22 season to the 2022/23 campaign. The three relegated clubs will transfer over their Premier League status to the three clubs promoted from the Championship and the Premier League table is reset.
10 June
The summer 2022 transfer window for Premier League clubs will officially open. It will close at 23:00 BST on 1 September 2022. Some clubs have already announced deals.

11 June
Clubs are required to publish the lists of the players they wish to retain and release by the second Saturday in June.
16 June
All 380 fixtures will be revealed from 09:00 BST on premierleague.com and the Premier League app.
Start of July
Players are expected to report for duty at their clubs in or around the first week of July to prepare for the new season.
6 July
There is still plenty of top-class football for fans to enjoy as the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 kicks off, with host nation England facing Austria at Old Trafford.
Many players from Premier League clubs’ women’s teams will be in action in the tournament, with the final at Wembley on 31 July. The Premier League works closely with The FA in investing in the development of the women’s game.

9 July
The first pre-season friendly involving a Premier League team is Aston Villa’s match with neighbours Walsall. This will start a series of matches involving our clubs all around the world, from Australia to the United States.

31 July
The traditional curtain-raiser of the FA Community Shield will renew the rivalry of Premier League champions Manchester City with runners-up and FA Cup winners Liverpool.
6 August
This is when the 2022/23 Premier League season is due to start. Man City will aim to emulate Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United and become only the second team to win a hat-trick of titles.
